A young California mother Charlyn Saffore, is grieving following the tragic loss of her son after someone she trusted brutally beat him and tortured him to death.

Charlyn Saffore was getting ready to work her shift at a hospital and dropped her 6-year-old son off to a babysitter, according to ABC7 News.

The babysitter Ernest Lamar Love, a well known barber, minister and prophet in the community. She says Love was a male role-model for her son. “He came in my son’s life just as a male figure. He taught him things. He helped him overcome certain fears that my son had,” Saffore said.

Love told the young mother that her son was working out, doing “jumping jacks” and had fallen and hit his head. According to Saffore, she initially believed him until an investigation revealed his lies.

According to the report, “prosecutors said Love had beaten the 6-year-old with a piece of lumber after the boy wet his pants at a park. He then allegedly poured hydrogen peroxide on the open wounds and forced him to exercise until he collapsed.”

The children’s hospital said flesh was missing from his buttocks and that he had extreme brain swelling from violent shaking. He suffered a brief coma before being taken off life support.

The church where Love ministered said they parted ways with him due to his behavior with women. They never imagined he would do something like this. “I want justice for my son because he did not deserve that,” Saffore said. She’s cautioning other mothers to he vigilant of who watches their child.
