A 21-Year-Old Aunt & Her 34-Year-Old Boyfriend Charged With Murdering Her 1-Year-Old Niece
A 21-year-old aunt, Kiya Moore and her 34-year-old boyfriend, Dejon Smith, has been charged with murdering a 1 year old girl after she was rushed to the hospital for multiple injuries.
The Memphis, Tennessee couple have been charged with first degree murder after Moore’s one year old niece Kali Moore was pronounced dead.
Kali Moore was beaten so bad she was bleeding out of her rectum the time of her passing, according to the Daily Mail. After further examining the infant, they discovered brain bleeding, bruised kidneys and enzymes in the child’s liver that are very consistent with abdominal trauma, and blood in her lungs.

After being arrested, Kiya and her boyfriend provided conflicting stories to authorities with Moore claiming she left the infant alone with her 34 year old boyfriend and when she came back the child was unresponsive.
The boyfriend is however claiming that his girlfriend was caring for the child and beat her because she would not stop crying. Smith claims heard shouting in their back room while the baby was crying and says that Moore slammed the baby into wooden furniture, floors and walls about 6 to 10 times.
Both baby sitters have been charged with first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse, and aggravated child neglect.
It’s noteworthy that the child’s mother is Moore’s sister and she spoke out saying her sister has nothing to do with this and blamed it all on the 34 year old boyfriend.
Smith was arrested in 2022 for firing a gun at a car while children were present, because he was angry that the mother of his child took her new boyfriend with her to pick up their son. He took a plea deal in that case, but it was not known how long his sentence was.
