Young Thug Reportedly Banned From Metro Atlanta Area For 10 Years After Jail Release

As we previously reported, Young Thug is now a free man as he’s been released from jail Thursday evening after pleading guilty to gang, drug and gun charges, in a dramatic twist that ended the longest criminal trial in Georgia history.

However, his freedom came with a few stipulations. The rapper is banned from metro Atlanta area for 10 years, except for special events or serious illnesses, per BBC.

According to the publication, Thug must also give four anti-gun or anti-gang performances in the Metro Atlanta as part of the conditions of his release. Although the YSL honcho is allowed to still perform with Gunna, a co-defendant in the case and obviously can’t promote or be affiliated with gangs.

Fans have since been reacting to the development. “He’s basically still locked up just at home,” someone commented. “Thug finna rap bout nun but drip and b*tches,” another person joked.

The 33-year-old Grammy winner was being tried alongside five co-defendants, in what became the longest criminal trial in Georgia history. Three of those co-defendants — Quamarvious Nichols, Marquavius Huey, and Rodalius Ryan — took plea deals earlier this week.

Another co-defendant, Yak Gotti, turned down a new plea deal today, according to his attorney, Doug Weinstein.

“Yak Gotti has rejected the state’s latest plea offer and fully intends to take this to the jury and get our not guilty verdicts and go home,” Doug told Atlanta’s WSB-TV. The last co-defendant, Shannon Stilwell, also turned down a plea deal, per Law & Crime.

Young Thug was sentenced to 40 years, to serve five, commuted to time served, allowing the rapper to leave jail for the first time in more than two years. Thug will be on probation for 15 years, with a 20-year sentence “backloaded” after.
