Young Thug Released From Prison After Being Sentenced To 15 Years Of Probation Following Plea Deal

Young Thug is now a free man after being released from jail Thursday evening. This was after the rapper pleaded guilty to gang, drug and gun charges, in a dramatic twist that ended the longest criminal trial in Georgia history.

Young Thug, real name Jeffery Lamar Williams, has spent more than 900 days behind bars since his arrest on racketeering and gang-related charges.

Back in May 2022, prosecutors alleged the 33-year-old Grammy winner founded was a front for an organised crime syndicate responsible for “75 to 80% of violent crime” in Atlanta. He alongside 27 other people were named in a 56-count indictment that included violation of Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act and participating in criminal street gang activity.

The “Lifestyle” crooner was accused of being one of the three founders of YSL, and was charged with two counts: conspiracy to violate RICO and participation in street gang activity, per Variety.

Thug pleaded no contest to RICO and gang leader counts, and pled guilty to the rest of his charges including two gun charges and three drug charges. The judge then sentenced him to time served on several counts as well as 15 years of probation, which if successfully met would lead to the commutation of his service portion.

Also, jail records show he was released later that night. Prior to his sentencing, Slime spoke for the first time in the case after spending the past two years in prison. “I am a smart guy, I am a good guy, and I really got a good heart,” the rapper told the judge.

“I found myself in a lot of stuff because I was just nice and cool, and I understand you can’t be that way when you reach a certain height because it could end bad,” he added.

As we previously reported, three of Thug’s co-defendants, Rodalius Ryan (aka Lil Rod), Quamarvious Nichols (aka Qua) and Marquavius Huey (aka Qua), accepted plea deals in the case earlier this week.
