Nelly & Ashanti Welcome Their First Child Together

Congratulations are in order for Ashanti, who is now officially a mother. The singer and her husband Nelly, have welcomed their first baby together, sharing the exciting news on Instagram.

In the photo, Ashanti can be seen in her Frida Mom disposable underwear, taking a mirror selfie and showing what her fourth trimester looks like.

A rep for the couple told PEOPLE that, “Ashanti and Nelly welcomed their baby boy, Kareem Kenkaide Haynes, on July 18, 2024. The proud and happy parents are so in love with KK!”

The 43-year-old singer also shared a video of herself in a blue robe, showing off her body. “Four weeks postpartum. You have no idea what this body can do,” she said.

“Funny how life’s plans aren’t…always on time.. lol. I’ve been waiting to be a mom for a long time now but nothing could prepare me for EVERYTHING motherhood brings!” she wrote in her caption.

“This is what postpartum looks like I’m loving these super cozy @fridamom shorts! I’m so proud of my body for giving me my baby, baby, baby, baby, baby,” the new mom added.

Nelly is yet to publicly comment on his son’s birth. In addition to Kareem, the 49-year-old is also a dad to two biological children and assumed the same role for his niece and nephew after his sister passed away in 2005 from leukemia.

Ashanti first announced her pregnancy during an interview with ESSENCE. “This new year of my life is such a blessing full of love, hope and anticipation,” the Grammy Award winning singer told the outlet.
