A 44 year-old Ohio substitute teacher, Stephanie Demetrius, is going viral after being arrested for allegedly hiring a student to murder her husband.

Stephanie offered a student $2,000 to kill her estranged husband before the teenager’s mother caught wind of the murder-for-hire plot and quickly informed the police.

According to Fox News, Stephanie initially paid the student $250 in cash as a down payment to carry out the murder of her soon-to-be ex-husband. She first met with the student at school on March 26.

The 44 year-old was arrested Wednesday and charged with first-degree conspiracy for the offer to a boy at The Academy For Urban Scholars High School in Columbus.

Things went south when the teenager’s mother found texts between him and Stephanie on his phone. She then reported the incident to the authorities.

Columbus Division of Police Sgt. James Fuqua told reporters: “This particular teacher was attempting to groom this young person into committing murder.” He continued, “Without their help, some of this might not have come to light.”

“This was a situation where a parent was able to capture things inside this young person’s phone and contact authorities,” Fuqua added.

Additionally, the disgruntled woman told the student that he would receive the remainder of the payment, saying she owed an additional “15,” per a recorded conversation.
