Breonna Taylor’s family finally got their long deserved victory in the case as a federal jury has found ex-Kentucky cop, Brett Hankison, guilty of using deadly force during the raid of Breonna Taylor’s home.

According to BBC, the 12 person jury deliberated for 20 hours in three days and found 47-year-old Hankison guilty.

The now arrested cop, Brett Hankison, deprived Taylor of her constitutional rights and his use of deadly force was unlawful and put Taylor in harms way, the jury determined.

This is the second attempt to get the former officer put away on these charges. Back in 2023, a federal judge determined a mistrial in relation to these charges aganist the former officer.

This time around, Breonna’s family was persistent and now both charges alleged Hankison used a dangerous weapon and his conduct indicated an intent to kill the 26-year-old emergency room technician and her boyfriend that night.

Brett’s conviction carries a maximum sentence of life in prison and his sentencing is currently scheduled for March 12, 2025.

Per the publication, this verdict marks the first time any cop has been convicted in the deadly raid on 13 March 2020 that made Breonna Taylor’s name a rallying cry during the racial justice unrest at the time.

Kelly Goodlett, another ex cop in the case pleaded guilty to falsifying the search warrant for Taylor’s home while the remaining two officers had their federal charges thrown out by a judge earlier this year. However, the US Justice Department recently indicted the two on new charges.
