Michael Strahan Says He May Retire From TV Following Daughter’s Brain Tumor Diagnosis

Michael Strahan says he is considering retiring from television to focus more on family following his daughter Isabella’s brain tumor diagnosis.

Strahan opened up about how Isabella’s diagnosis has changed his perspective on life in a new interview on ‘In Depth With Graham Bensinger’.

The Super Bowl champion and father of four also revealed he may leave his role on the small screen in order to focus more on family. Isabella was diagnosed with a brain tumor back in October, and had to undergo chemotherapy treatment.

Although the journalist has taken time off to support his daughter earlier, it appears he is wanting to take more of a full time supporting role.

“You’d think I’m the athlete, the tough guy, the father in the family,” Michael said on the situation. “It is not about any of that. It has really made me change my perspective on so many things.”

The 52-year-old then went on to detail how the diagnosis emphasized the importance of family and is one of the reasons he mentioned for wanting to retire.

The former professional football player added that him and a colleague actually have an ongoing bet on how many more years he would work before he retired, but kept the number of years a secret.

Strahan in his NFL days, played his entire 15-year professional career as a defensive end for the New York Giants.

He is currently tied with T. J. Watt for the most NFL single-season quarterback sacks. He also helped the Giants win Super Bowl XLII over the New England Patriots in his final season in 2007.
