Body-Cam Video Shows Dog Who Was Fatally Shot In Front Of It’s Owners, Never Bit The Officer

Yesterday, we reported about a heartbreaking video of an Iowa police officer fatally shooting a dog in front of it’s owners.

The video went viral on social media, causing a debate among netizens, many of which defended the officer’s actions but new body-cam video paints a different story.

The body-can footage shows the dog running up to the officer and defensively barking, but the dog never attempted to bite him. But when another officer arrived to the scene, Officer Ethan Bock told him that the dog came at him “like he was gonna kill him.”

The children’s father, Don Hesseltine, wants the officer jailed. As we previously reported, he took to social media to express his outrage over the incident.

I’m the owner of that dog, and that’s my family. To provide more context: The kids were playing in the alley with the dog when a call came in for a cop to be dispatched, many blocks away,” Don began.

He continued, “The officer happened to be driving by and told my son and his cousin to take the dog inside, which they were doing.”

“Instead of continuing his pursuit of the four dogs at large, the officer decided to instigate an unnecessary altercation that ultimately could have been avoided.”Hesseltine went on to say that the dog who was named “Myst” never bit anyone or the officer.

The Davenport PD is still investigating the shooting.
