Police Officer Fatally Shoots Family’s Dog For Charging At Him
A heartbreaking video is currently making rounds on social media, showing the moment an Iowa police officer fatally shot a dog in front of it’s owners.
The officer identified as Ethan Bock, was responding to a call about 4 aggressive dogs causing a disturbance in the neighborhood.
Bock saw two kids playing with a separate dog and told them to take their dog inside. Apparently, the kids didn’t move fast enough, which prompted the officer to exit his vehicle. The family’s dog then charged him and began barking aggressively, causing Bock to shoot the dog and he died shortly after.

In the viral video, the kids could be heard crying and Bock was overheard saying “it’s because you let your kid out!” The children’s father, Don Hesseltine, took to X, formerly Twitter to react to the incident.
“I’m the owner of that dog, and that’s my family. To provide more context: The kids were playing in the alley with the dog when a call came in for a cop to be dispatched, many blocks away,” Don began.
He continued, “The officer happened to be driving by and told my son and his cousin to take the dog inside, which they were doing.”
“Instead of continuing his pursuit of the four dogs at large, the officer decided to instigate an unnecessary altercation that ultimately could have been avoided.”Hesseltine went on to say that the dog who was named “Myst” never bit anyone or the officer.
The Davenport PD issued a statement, saying it’s investigating the shooting.
