A Florida woman was fatally shot in the face by her daughter’s 16-year-old ex-boyfriend, who was furious because she ended their past relationship.

On June 27th at 7:40 p.m., the 38-year-old woman, Eulalia Gonzalez, was fatally shot on her front porch, per Crime Stoppers Miami & Florida Keys.

Homestead Police and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue found Gonzalez with a gunshot wound to her eye, lying over her unharmed 1-month-old daughter while responding to reports of a woman shot in the head at her home on 11th Street.

She was rushed to Jackson South Medical Center, where she died from her injuries. Security footage however shows 16-year-old Eli Zachary Shinhoster approaching Gonzalez’s residence, pulling a handgun, firing, and fleeing on foot.

Multiple witnesses recognized the teenager as the shooter. He was apprehended on Monday morning at his home in southwest Miami-Dade and detained by officers with the Miami-Dade Police Department.

According to the authorities, Shinhoster said he had a handgun in his waistband when he took a rideshare to the area near Gonzalez’s home “in order to carry out his plan of killing one of his ex-girlfriend’s family members in order to hurt her because she ended the relationship.”

Shinhoster had previously told Gonzalez’s daughter that “if she was not with him, she could not be with anyone else,” per NBC Miami.

The 16-year-old was taken into custody on Monday and charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of being a minor in possession of a firearm in the slaying of Eulalia Gonzalez Martin De Osorio.
