Tory Lanez finally got some good news in court regarding his conviction in the Megan Thee Stallion shooting incident. The rapper’s motion for relevant evidence is being considered by California’s court of appeal.

Back in December 23rd of 2022, Tory was sentenced to 10 years in prison after he was found guilty of shooting Megan Thee Stallion.

Following the conviction, Tory Lanez, real name Daystar Peterson, has desperately been trying to appeal the verdict. On June 21, 2024, the Canadian rapper filed a motion requesting relevant evidence under Penal Code section 745, subdivision (d).

He’s seeking specific evidence that could be favorable to his defense. On June 26, 2024, the prosecution filed paperwork opposing the rapper’s motion for discovery.

Fortunately for him, the court decided that there was good reason to consider Tory’s request for additional evidence to be used alongside his pending petition for writ of habeas corpus, which is where the appellate court decides if your detainment is lawful.

Back in August 20, 2020, Megan Thee Stallion claimed that Tory Lanez was the gunman who shot her in the foot following a July 12, 2020, pool party at Kylie Jenner’s house.

The Houston native dmitted in her video that she didn’t tell cops what happened, explaining she thought the LAPD was “aggressive” and accused Lanez’s publicist of intentionally attempting to spread false information about the shooting.

He was initially arrested on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle, and not for allegedly shooting Megan. Lanez was then released on $35,000 bail.

“Yes, this n*gga Tory shot me. I didn’t get cut by no glass, but let me tell you why they’re saying that,” she said. “When the police came because the neighbors called the police … the police come — I’m scared. All this shit going on with the police … I didn’t want to die. I didn’t want the police to shoot me cause there’s a n*gga with a gun in the car with me.”
