Terrence Shannon Jr. Will Proceed With The NBA Draft Process After He Was Found Not Guilty Of Rape

Congratulations are in order for NBA draft prospect, Terrence Shannon Jr., who recently received some good news after he was falsely accused of rape last year.

Back in 2023, the shooting star was charged with rape and aggravated sexual battery. This was after a woman claimed a tall man at a bar stuck his hand under her skirt and penetrated her with his finger.

The woman got home and searched online for rosters from KU and Illini football and basketball players. It was from there that she identified Shannon Jr. The 23-year old was was immediately suspended from The Illini.

However, a judge overturned the decision and allowed him to still play after missing 6 games. Fortunately for him, when a rape kit was performed that same night, no male DNA was found.

A Kansas Jury found Shannon Jr. not guilty of sexual assault on Thursday, and he was cleared of all charges. The young baller will now proceed with the pre-Draft process ahead of the NBA Draft on June 26.

Following his acquittal, LeBron James was among those who showed him support. The NBA legend addressed his post to Shannon, whom he referred to as his “Young [king],” adding that he was “proud.”

“The apologies should be 30X louder than the hate he got but we know how it goes. Anyways back to the regular scheduled program. Great days ahead,” LeBron tweeted.

“People who falsely accuse someone should receive charges and deserve to get locked up,” a netizen wrote in reaction to the acquittal of the former University of Illinois men’s basketball star.
