Popular substance abuse counselor Daniel Christopher Hyden is facing a slew of charges after the 44-year-old drunkenly plowed his truck into a Manhattan park during a 4th of July Celebration.

Daniel, a substance abuse counselor and wellness advocate, known for writing ‘The Sober Addict’ has ironically been arrested for killing 3 people and injuring an additional 8 at a park gathering during 4th of July celebration.

Prior to the incident, Daniel was reportedly involved in a psychical altercation with another man due to being denied entry into Pier 36 for being too drunk. This made him upset because he had already purchased a ticket.

Authorities shared that the venue refunded him and he drove off. However, 50 minutes after that altercation, the accident occurred, per the New York Post.

Authorities reviewed surveillance footage of nearby businesses after the tragic incident and found out that Daniel was speeding down Water Street before blowing through a stop sign and jumping the sidewalk around 9 p.m..

The substance abuse counselor was pulled him out of the truck by witnesses and they held him there until police arrived. Daniel admitted to having a few drinks before the situation occurred, coupled with the fact that he was driving without a seatbelt.

According to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office, he is currently being held in jail without bond.

Hyden was arraigned in Manhattan criminal court on multiple counts, including aggravated vehicular homicide, assault and manslaughter, as well as driving while intoxicated and other assault and manslaughter charges.
