Skilla Baby Shot Multiple Times While Filming A Music Video On 8 Mile In Detroit
Prayers are currently up for Skilla Baby following reports that the rapper was reportedly shot multiple times on Thursday evening, May 22, 2025, while traveling eastbound on 8 Mile Road near Telegraph Road in Detroit.
The Detroit native sustained a graze wound to the head and a gunshot injury to the leg. Following the shooting, the vehicle he was in crashed into a building jus off the roadway.
Skilla Baby whose real name is Trevon Gardner, was reportedly ambushed while riding in a black SUV near 8 Mile and Beech Daly, an area known both for its commercial strip and its gritty reputation. Multiple sources claim that the vehicle was shot at multiple times.

Photos of the aftermath of the shooting circulating online show a bullet-riddled black car allegedly connected to the incident. The rapper was reportedly shooting a music video when the incident happened.

Despite the severity of the attack, the 25-year-old rapper is expected to survive his injuries. Authorities have not yet released information about any suspects or a possible motive, and the investigation is ongoing, per Hot97.
A popular local Facebook group, Detroit Rappers Songs, that mostly covers the city’s rap scene, confirmed that Skilla had been shot. A post from the group claimed the suspect fled the scene following the incident.
Skilla Baby is one of Detroit’s rising hip hop stars, with notable projects like We Eat The Most (2022) and The Coldest (2024). The rapper has a huge following on social media and streaming platforms, and he was named BET’s Amplified Artist back in April 2024.
Fans and fellow artists have since taken to social media to show their support and wishes for his speedy recovery.
