Police Arrest ‘Diaper Crew’ Accused Of Over 2 Dozen Retail Theft In Philadelphia

Just in, the infamous ‘Diaper Crew’ that have been terrorizing Philadelphia and its residents has been dismantled by the authorities. Three suspects allegedly linked to more than two dozen retail thefts around the city have been apprehended.

Members of the “Diaper Crew” targeted Family Dollar, Dollar General and Rite Aid stores around the city, according to Inspector Ray Evers.

Per Fox News, the 3 men are accused of sneaking large bags into the stores and using them to take diapers, batteries and coffee.“They were taking shelf-loads of diapers, hundreds at a time,” the Inspector said at a press conference on Friday.

An app that connects police with retail store owners around the city is credited for helping authorities hone in on the suspects. Police reportedly provided information on the app about the pattern of robberies and heard from other stores that had been hit “within hours.”

While crimes including organized retail theft, smash and grab, takeovers and more have been an issue for years, it reached unprecedented levels in Philly and the City officials are now partnering with law enforcement in the suburbs to reduce the crime rate.

The authorities followed through the information and on July 14, they arrested three group members including Daquan Johnson, 26-year-old suspected ringleader, Jordan Prince, 23 and Lytrell Scott, 25, during an attempted robbery at Dollar General in Juniata Park.

The Inspector added that Johnson was given $250K bail and that Police are working with the attorney of an unnamed fourth suspect who is expected to turn himself in.

Assistant District Attorney Kim Esack stated, “They’re not stealing to eat or feed their families or for other resources. They’re doing it as a business,” Kim Esack, assistant District Attorney, said in a statement.
