Man Sentenced To Life In Prison After Shooting & Burning The Body Of His 20-Year-Old Boyfriend In An Attempt To Keep His Sexuality A Secret
A Philadelphia family want families to know the implications of not accepting your child’s sexuality following a tragic story which has come to an end.
On Friday, 23-year-old Kylen Pratt was convicted of first-degree murder, abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence and possession of an instrument of crime for a 2022 “hate crime”.
The convicted man was in a relationship with Naasire Johnson, 20. According to prosecutors, Johnson left his home on February 17th, 2022 and met Pratt at another home where he was unfortunately shot in the neck, according to NBC 10 Philadelphia.

Pratt then did the unthinkable. He wrapped the body in plastic, fabric, and duct tape before burning it to the point that Johnson became unrecognizable. The victim’s body was found 3 days later by two individuals walking a dog. It took a week to identify the remains per the authorities.
Johnson’s grandmother Cynthia Johnson, reacted to the situation saying: “Sometimes I just force myself to go to sleep, my heart is so torn in so many pieces. I couldn’t even see him when they laid him to rest I couldn’t even see him.”
During the investigation, authorities found searches in Kylen’s phone including “murdering in cold blood,” “having sex with dead bodies,” and “traits of a psychopath”.
The authorities also found the weapon, blood splatters, bleach spots, and more. Following the tragic incident, the family is now urging others to be more accepting of others’ sexuality.
“This is an individual who was killed because he was gay and because the man who killed him didn’t want anyone to find out that he was in a relationship with him or he had sex with other men,” Assistant District Attorney Cydney Pope said in a statement.
