New Orleans Resident Calls Police On One Of The Escaped Inmates After He Falls Asleep On A Bus Bench

News went viral of a dramatic jailbreak from the Orleans Justice Center, where ten inmates facing serious violent charges, escaped through a hole behind a toilet in their cell.

This has since triggered manhunt across the American South and more than half of the escapees have been recaptured. One of the inmate was caught ‘slippin’ and is currently getting roasted for it.

In a video making rounds on social media, a New Orleans resident noticed one of the escapees sleeping on an open bench and notified police, reportedly getting $10,000 in reward money.

Netizens can’t seem to fathom why an inmate would be on the run and at the same time be sleeping on a bench in public. “Breaking out of prison only to get caught sleeping on a bench in a public place is absolutely insane man,” someone commented.

“Nah but how closely do you have to look at a person asleep on a bus stops bench to recognize them as an escapee? I’ve never looked twice at a leeeon asleep on a bench. Let along recognized anybody,” another person wrote.

“That tells me nobody he knew wanted him back,” someone else added.

In relation, the fifth of 10 inmate escapees has been recaptured, according to Fox News. Corey Boyd, who was briefly spotted last Friday hours after the jailbreak, was taken into custody, per the Louisiana State Police.

The 19-year-old was captured in New Orleans. He is accused of killing Brandon Fees during a car burglary in 2024. He was originally jailed for second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, aggravated battery and threatening a public official.

On Tuesday, a prison maintenance worker accused of helping ten inmates escape was arrested. Five fugitives remain at large five days after the escape.
