A Germany mother, Katarina Jovanovic, has been sentenced to 7 and a half years in prison after she brutally killed her daughter by tossing the newborn out a window in a sorry attempt to save her career.

28-year-old Katarina Jovanovic, was convicted of manslaughter earlier this month, according to the Daily Mail.

Katarina admitted that 10 months ago she had quietly given birth at home to her daughter before immediately tossing the child out of a 12ft window. The infant was found by neighbors with a shattered skull.

Katarina reportedly hid her pregnancy from her family and co-workers over fears that it would ruin her career as an executive in Porsche’s legal department.

According to her defense attorneys, she was in shock because she didn’t know she was pregnant. They argue that her hands were bloody while holding the baby and that she accidentally dropped the child from the window.

However, public prosecutor Mareike Hafendoerfer argued that the accused was not prepared to put her life plans, especially her professional advancement, on hold for a child.

“That was her decision when the baby was born, and as a result, the criteria for a murder conviction are fulfilled,” Mareike said.

Although Neighbors confirmed that they had no idea she was pregnant, they noted that her attitude had shifted because she stopped speaking to them.

Eventually, the court accepted the lesser charge of manslaughter but she was sentenced to seven and a half years, which was more than the three years the defence had demanded. Katrina’s legal team are not satisfied and said they plan to appeal the verdict.
