North Carolina Mother Arrested For Leaving Her Two Young Daughters In Hot Car For 6 Hours While She Gambled

A North Carolina mother, Launice Shanique Battle, is currently behind bars after leaving her two young daughters in the scorching hot car while she went to gamble in a casino for 6 hours, according to reports obtained by Law & Crime,

On Aug 27th, 2022, Police reportedly responded to the Duke Raleigh Hospital regarding two young girls’ suspicious deaths, identified as Amora and Trinity.

According to Goldsboro, North Carolina CBS affiliate WNCN, an autopsy by the county medical examiner revealed that both girls died from hyperthermia, a condition where the body absorbs or generates more heat than it can release.

“On 8/27/2022, Amora and Trinity were reportedly left in a vehicle parked behind a gambling establishment from approximately 1430 hours to 2030 hours (6 hours),” the autopsy report stated. The car was parked in a possibly partially shaded area.

It’s also documented that weather for that time was hot, with a high temperature of 95 degrees Fahrenheit, with skies varying from partly to mostly cloudy with some light rain. Her mother found them unresponsive and drove them to Duke Raleigh Emergency Department.

Shockingly, the poor girls had “no body temperature” when found and were already in stages of “mild decomposition.” According to Battle’s cousin, Keisha Harris, who spoke with NBC, Battle wasn’t a bad mother, she just made a “careless mistake.”

The careless mistake unfortunately took her children and her freedom, giving her the next 94 months behind bars to reflect on her actions.

The report also showed that between 2019 and 2022, Child Protective Services opened investigations into Launice three times, with the most recent happening less than two months before the girls died.
