71-Year-Old Man Found Dead In A Nursing Home Storage Closet After His Family Was Told He Went Missing

The family of a 71-year-old man is confused and heartbroken after they were sent on a wild goose chase that ended with sad news.

The 71-year-old man, Elin Etienne, had been “missing” from a North Miami nursing home since August 22nd, according to Fox5Vegas.

Although the family said the nursing home wouldn’t share many details with them, they however did get a call from a nurse that claimed they lost him only to be told by a second nurse that Elin signed his self out to leave.

Unfortunately, their worst nightmare became a reality when police confirmed that his body was found. The confusing part is that the body was found inside the facility, in a storage closet near an aquarium.

Elin’s niece Kimberly Etienne, reacted to the situation saying, “They said that he signed himself out. He doesn’t have the capacity to sign himself out.”

“He was stuffed in a closet the last 12 days — The officer advised he was so decomposed that they couldn’t recognize him,” Kimberly added.

The man was only at the home for rehab and was recovering from a stroke. According to his family, he was also diagnosed with dementia

The staff have refused to share any comments on the incident. The family on the other hand is still seeking answers as the authorities say it’s still unclear how long the body was there.
