Liam Payne, former ‘One Direction’ singer passed away at 31 on Wednesday after falling into the interior patio of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The tragic incident was confirmed by the Argentine Director of Emergency Medical Services, Alberto Crescenti,
According to CBS News, Crescenti said an ambulance arrived seven minutes later but declined to answer questions about the incident, including whether Payne jumped from the balcony or fell by accident.
A spokesperson for the Buenos Aires told the outlet that police were dispatched to the hotel in response to an emergency call about an “aggressive man who could be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.”

“[Payne] had thrown himself from the balcony of his room,” the spokesperson said. According to reports circulating, the UK singer had attended a show in Argentina of his former bandmate, Niall Horan.
Liam also posted a series of social media videos showing him headed to Argentina. Tributes have since been flying on social media as fans and colleagues react to the sudden passing of the singer.
“I am in shock right now. Liam was always so kind to me,” Charlie Puth wrote on his Instagram story. “He was one of the first major artists I got to work with. I cannot believe he’s gone. I am so upset right now, may he rest in peace.”
Ty Dolla Sign also reacted to the news by sharing a video of Payne on his Instagram Story, writing: “Just talked to you 2 days ago my guy. Ima miss u frfr.”
“So upsetting to hear the news of [Liam Payne] passing. Sending love and condolences to his family & loved ones. RIP my friend,” Paris Hilton wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
