A 36-year-old woman, Sonya Massey, was shot in the face by Illinois deputy after she called the police to report a possible prowler.

The woman who’s from Sangamon County was killed on July 6th. According to reports, she had called police shortly before 1am to report a prowler.

When authorities arrived to Sonya’s residence they found a car that had been broken into at her home. Police claim after knocking on her door, they found her “distraught and not thinking clearly.”

It’s gathered that one of the officers had a back and forth with her while in her place regarding her removing a pot of water from her stove.

The 36-year-old carried the pot to the sink and turned on the faucet which made Sangamon County Deputy, Sean Grayson, told her that he was moving away from her “hot steamy water” and she replied: “I rebuke you in the name of Jesus.”

“I swear to God. I will shoot you right in your f*cking face,” Grayson said. Sonya then reportedly put her hands in the air and apologized before crouching down below some cabinets after he pulled out his firearm.

The officer continued to approach her with his weapon which made her grab the pot and threw hot water on a chair. Grayson then fired his weapon 3 times, hitting her in the face and also refused to administer aid after the shooting. However, another deputy did despite Grayson telling him not to.

Sangamon County Sheriff Jack Campbell revealed in a statement Wednesday that Grayson had been fired because it was clear he “did not act as trained or in accordance with our standards.”

The officer has reportedly been indicted on charges of first-degree murder and other crimes. It’s noteworthy that Trump wants to give immunity to police officers from prosecution under his presidency.
