Black Mother Stuck In Turks After Accidentally Traveling With Ammunition In Her Bag

A Black mother, Sharitta Grier, and her daughters are currently being held in Turks and Caicos. According to reports, she accidentally traveled to the island with ammunition in her duffel bag.

Sharitta admitted that the bag is often used to store her gun and bullets, adding that she cleaned the bag out to use for their Turks trip but accidentally left some bullets in it.

It’s gathered that the woman was able to make it to Turks because Transportation Security Administration in Orlando only confiscated her lotion and body spray but missed the ammunition.

Unfortunately, two bullets were found in the bag when they arrived at Turks.

Florida Secretary of State Cord Boyd, reportedly confirmed he met with government officials to determine how they can expedite the woman and her daughters release and prevent this from happening to other Americans in the future.

Sharitta spent three nights in jail before she was released on bond, but is still waiting to appear before a judge, as her court date is July 5. She’s facing a minimum sentence of 12 years in prison if convicted, as firearm and ammunition offenses on the island carry that sentence.

“TWO bullets. No gun. What she gone do? Throw them like darts? 12yrs in prison for that?!” someone commented on the news. “12 years of convicted? Out on bond? Turks would have to issue a warrant against me,” another person wrote.

“They got somebody at Turks Airport working with the government putting that stuff in people bag so they can fine them and pay that money. Ain’t no way everybody coming back getting caught with ammo and everybody got 2 bullets. US Customs ain’t find nothing before they board them planes,” someone else claimed.
