Angel Reese Speaks On Her Wrist Injury That Put Her Out For The Rest Of The Season

Angel Reese is having a record-setting rookie season and unfortunately, it is over two weeks before anyone expected. The 22-year-old finished the season averaging 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds.

She holds the highest rebound average in the history of the WNBA and also set the rookie record with 26 double-doubles, her last coming in a 92-78 win over Los Angeles on Friday night.

Reese, the No. 7 pick in the draft, announced on social media she will miss the rest of the season due to an injury on Saturday. Angel’s team later announced the issue is a wrist injury from Friday’s game against the Los Angeles Sparks.

“What a year. I never would have imagined the last bucket of my rookie season would be a 3 but maybe that was God saying give them a taste of what they will be seeing more of in Year 2 lol,” she wrote.

“Through it all, I have showed that I belong in this league even when no one else believed. All I have ever wanted was to come into the W and make an impact. I can confidently say I have done that and will strive to keep doing so,” Reese added.

Not long after, the Chicago Sky forward shared a video on TikTok detailing her situation. “So I’m out for the season, I fell on my hand… and there’s a small crack in my bone,” she revealed.

According to her, she technically could have played on, but elected for surgery to avoid arthritis, damage, etc.. Her surgery is on Tuesday, hard cast for 4 weeks, soft for 2 weeks, then she’ll be going into rehab. “Basically the doctors told me I could either not have surgery or have surgery,” she said.

“The risk of not having surgery, I could literally have arthritis at 22 years old, that wasn’t an option. The bone could literally crack and could be shattered and long term, I literally could have .. like not play anymore.” Listen to her below:
