Angel Reese feels she also deserves credit for increasing the popularity of women’s basketball, despite her rival Caitlin Clark getting most of the accolades.

The former LSU star made this known during a news conference in which she discusses Chennedy Carter’s foul on Caitlin Clark.

The 22-year-old touched on the growing attention on women’s basketball and stresses that it isn’t due to just one person. According to Reese, she’s also responsible for elevating the women’s game and not only Caitlin, who has been getting most of the credit.

“It all started from the national championship game and I been dealing with this for two years,” she said. “Negative things are being said about me but, honestly I’ll take that because look where women’s basketball is.”

Angel continued, “People are talking about women’s basketball but you’ll never think people will talk about women’s basketball. People are pulling up to games, we’ve got celebrities pulling up to games, sold out arenas just because of one single game.”

“Looking at that, I’ll take that role. I’ll take the bad guy role. I’ll continue to take that and do that for my teammates. If I wanna be that, I know I’ll go down in history..”

She added, “I’ll look back in 20 years and be like ‘yeah the reason why we watching women’s basketball is not just because of one person, it’s because of me too and I want y’all to realize that.”

As we previously reported, Caitlin Clark made controversial headlines over the weekend after her boyfriend and family were caught liking hateful tweets about Angel Reese. So far, none of the girls have issued a statement on this.
