Burger King Employee Who Worked Last-Minute Shift In Graduation Clothes Gets $22K In Donations

A Burger King employee, Mykale Baker, went viral after he showed up to work following his High School graduation ceremony. The 18-year-old boy turned down after-party and clocked into his shift.

The teen went to work a shift at Burger King in Dacula, GA just hours after the high school ceremony. Fortunately for him, a local mom, Maria Mendoza, noticed he was wearing some of his graduation “stole” and “medals” while taking orders.

The woman made a TikTok of Mylale with his graduation and work fit on, and it went viral on the platform. She then launched a GoFundme account to raise money for Mylale’s college tuition.

“Just after receiving His diploma… Still proudly wearing his medals… He reported to his shift at Burger King,” she wrote on the clip, per New York Post.

Maria’s daughter reportedly graduated from the same school. “His dedication and quiet strength really moved me. I felt called to do something to recognize that.. I’m just grateful I got to do something for him,” she told 11 Alive.

The young man got over some thousands of dollars in donations, prompting Maria to go back to Burger King to tell him the great news. The teenager’s mom was in attendance also and they both shed tears of joy.

He revealed that he had financial setbacks when it came to paying for graduation fees and that he hopes to join a trade school, but he can now afford to go to wherever he is accepted.

At the moment, the GoFundMe has reached over $180k, and it appears the numbers won’t stop rising. Folks online have also been reacting to the news.

“This really touched my heart do more people like her please. She’s gonna be so blessed,” someone commented. “He looks so happy. I feel like he’s going to circle back and go something good in this world,” another person wrote.
