Chris Brown Freed After Being Granted $6.7 Million Bail By London Court

Chris Brown has finally been released on bail in the amount of $6.7 million on Wednesday (May 21). The 36-year-old also has to surrender his passport when not traveling for his upcoming Breezy Bowl XX Tour in North American and Europe.

According to Reuters, while Brown is yet to enter a plea, a London judge ordered him to pay $5.4 million to start, with an additional $1.3 million due in seven days.

The singer and rapper was initially denied bail during a London court hearing on Friday (May 16). The judge at that hearing remanded him into custody, with the singer at the time set to remain behind bars until his next hearing.

Assuming he wasn’t granted bail, his next hearing would have been June 13, and would have put his tour which is scheduled to kick off June 8 in jeopardy. The highly anticipated tour will also feature Summer Walker and Bryson Tiller.

The “Under The Influence” hitmaker’s next court date is set for June 20 at Southwark Crown Court in London. Unfortunately, that date is currently bookended by two shows: June 19 in Cardiff, U.K., and June 21 in London.

This is coming barely 24 hours after Chris Brown’s manager was allegedly seen bringing him KFC and some clothes. The video went viral and garnered a lot of reactions from netizens.

“Damn what kind of jail he in let you have dinner every night and wear outside clothes,” someone commented. “They don’t have Popeyes in London?” another person jokingly asked.

Brown was arrested on May 15 while at his hotel in Manchester for what officials told The Independent was “suspicion of grievous bodily harm” tied to an alleged assault that happened at a nightclub in February 2023.

According prosecutors, the two-time Grammy Award winner is responsible for an “unprovoked attack” with a tequila bottle on music promoter Abraham Diaw.
