Mexican Ship Carrying 200 Passengers Crashes Into The Brooklyn Bridge, 2 Dead & 17 Hurt

2 Dead, 17 Injured As Mexican Ship Carrying 200 Passengers Crashes Into The Brooklyn Bridge
A Mexican ship crashed into the Brooklyn Bridge on Saturday night, smashing its huge masts into the deck in a horrifying scene that left two dead, 17 injured, including four critically.
The massive navy tall Cuauhtémoc which was on a goodwill visit to New York seemingly lost power as it was sailing out of the city on its way to Iceland.
According to Eric Adams and multiple footage of the crash, the current carried it into the road deck of the bridge around 8:30 p.m.. The crash cut off the ship’s 147-foot masts, and two sailors were on top of the mast when it hit the bridge which has a max clearance of 135 feet.

The ship which has a crew of 277, mostly cadets, hits three huge masts against the legendary span, slowly, one by one. Some crew members were seen dangling from the damaged masts.

Elijah West, a witness at the scene of the crash said, “The boat was coming under the bridge, and there were sailors on top of the boat, the sails hit the bridge and then people were falling off of the boat sails.”
“It was crazy. We were standing under the bridge and we all started running. Then I saw people hanging from the sails,” the witness continued. “Police boats came around fast — about five minutes later. And then police guided the boat to the (Manhattan) bridge and started the rescue. It was a shock.”
Disturbing video from the scene captured the tall mast striking the bridge deck and plummeting dozens of feet below. Other masts then appeared to go down after it.
According to NY Post, emergency crews searched the waters, but reports indicate no one fell in. Those injured were transported to the Brooklyn Navy Yard, with those in critical condition being taken to a nearby hospital for additional treatment.
