A woman is going viral after she surprisingly defended the father of their late 13-week-old baby, Traveon Hughes Sr., after he intentionally shoved a baby wipe down their baby’s throat.

20-year-old Acieiona McEwan shocked people when she stood by the culprit who had done the unthinkable in a bid to stop the baby from crying.

According to MSN, a jury convicted 20-year-old Traveon this week for intentionally and fatally shoving wipe down the helpless baby’s throat. In a dramatic twist of events, Acieiona took the stand at his sentencing to slam the court’s decision.

Traveon was 18 when the incident happened. It was on June 25th, 2022, just two days after the pair moved from Chicago to Cleveland. Acieiona was at work and Trav was at home with the baby, his brother, and his girlfriend.

Traveon tried to defend himself, during the trial, saying his baby son accidentally choked on the wipe. The 20-year-old claimed he replaced a milk-soaked bib with the wipe and then left the room to tend to wounds he suffered from being shot 19 times in Chicago.

Hughes said when he came back, he found his son choking, and the baby was still alive when paramedics arrived. Unfortunately, the baby was pronounced dead at the hospital, with the wipe still lodged in his throat. His attorney however do not agree with the Jury, doubling down that Hughes didn’t recklessly or intentionally shove that wipe down his infant’s throat.

“God gets the last word,” Acieiona said in court, blaming medical professionals for her son’s death. “Y’all are making a mistake, Y’all know what y’all did to my child, and y’all are not going to get away with this,” she added. Traveon’s mom, Sandra Norwood, was present as well. “Ohio is going to get sick of me because justice will prevail,” Sandra said in her son’s defense.

On Friday, Traveon Hughes was found guilty of murder, involuntary manslaughter, and child endangerment, with prosecutors insisting that he did it in a bid to stop the baby from crying. He has been sentenced to life in prison.
