TT Torrez Tells Aspiring Rapper That Idolizes Nicki Minaj That Animated Rap Has No Sustainability In The Industry

TT Torrez has got the Barbz fuming following an advise she gave an aspiring rapper during an audition. According to the media personality, ‘Animated Rap’ like the one Nicki Minaj does has no sustainability.

“You need a lot of work when it comes to rapping.. like your bars, your punchlines.. all of that is just soft, it ain’t it,” Torrez told the aspiring rapper on the show.

“Who’s your top 3 female emcees of all time,” one of the judges asked. “Nicki, because she’s so animated. I love being animated,” she replied, adding that she wants to be an animated rapper like Nicki Minaj.

“But do you know that is a one trick pony right?” Torrez said after mimicking animated rap. “An animated rapper is a one trick pony that do not have sustainability in the music business. And that annoys the f*ck out of me because it’s f*cking easy to do,” she continued.

“My f*cking son can do that sh*t over his iPhone in 2 minutes, but I put you on stage next to a f*cking Doja Cat, she would eat you alive because she’s more than just an animated rapper,” TT added.

Torrez, who’s the Vice President of Artist and Label relations and Music Director at New York’s HOT 97 radio station, is now facing backlash from Nicki fans over her comments.

The clip from AllBLk is now making rounds online, garnering mixed reactions from Hip Hop fans. “Can’t be that damn easy if nobody has surpassed the queen,” someone commented.

“It’s funny she referenced Doja cat whom is also an animated rapper who has publicly cited her admiration of Nicki Minai ( the most successful female rapper widely known for her animated style),” another person wrote.

“Her other critiques may be valid but animation is not “easy to do” which is why many artist fall short in trying to do so,” the user added. Watch the video below:
