Nicki Minaj recently shaded Jay-Z and the NFL after they snubbed Lil Wayne for the Super Bowl Halftime show. The organizers chose Kendrick Lamar instead of Wayne and this decision didn’t sit well with many.
However, Stephen A. Smith isn’t here for Nicki’s outburst against JAY-Z and Roc Nation, and he recently defended HOV amidst criticisms.
During Wednesday’s episode of his podcast, the sports journalist addressed Nicki directly, saying while he respects her success, the rapper crossed a line by publicly disrespecting JAY-Z. “Every time we turn around it’s something, Nicki. You disagree with the decision, but you have to talk to a brother like that?” the 56-year-old said.

Smith then questioned if Onika realizes just how hard it is for someone like JAY-Z to achieve what he has. “Do you know how hard it is, for a Black man to pull off what JAY-Z has pulled off?” he asked.
The sports broadcaster then suggested that Nicki might be using the controversy to stir up attention for herself. “It ain’t about you as an individual, it’s about us. All of us, as Black people,” he said.
Well, Nicki caught up with the Smith’s criticism and wasted no time in firing back. “Oh look yall another paid laughy taffy alien who only comes off his knees to turn around & back dat azz up,” the Queens rapper wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
“LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Stephen, we don’t care. Ima tell u right now. We don’t care. If I say more it’ll be your fault. Sit down ugly,” she continued, quoting a clip of Smith’s podcast.
“Stephen wasn’t you just moanin & groanin on live in your bedroom ? LMFAOOOO,” she continued in another tweet. “And since we here in women’s business…ladies; when should men just shave their full head? Should it take its normal course like SAS Sassy ass or should he look into lace fronts? #GagCityBuffalo TONIGHT.”
