Young Thug has been embroiled in legal troubles since May 2022. The rapper has been held without bail in the Fulton County Jail on remand after he was charged with violating the Georgia RICO Act, and a total of 56 counts of illegal substance trafficking / firearm possession charges.

Thugger was arrested alongside 27 other members of YSL on gang-related charges and has been denied bail four times.

Recently, a clip surfaced from youths rapper’s ongoing trial, showing the moment Young Thug, real name Jeffery Lamar Williams, told his mom not to cry and stay strong while in court. Jeffery communicated with her using sign language after seeing her in tears.

The video went viral across social media and garnered lots of reactions from people. “No matter how gangster you are mama and kids will make you soft,” a user commented. “New hit ‘don’t cry mama’ featuring future and Metro Boomin,” someone else person wrote.

Prior to that, the internet went wild after Yak Gotti’s attorneys estimated that Young Thug’s YSL trial may go on until 2027 if they don’t limit the number of witnesses.

According to Law and Crime, defense attorneys E. Jay Abt, Douglas Weinstein, and Katie A. Hingerty told Judge Ural Glanville to use his “broad discretion” to assert “reasonable control” over trial evidence by reducing the number of state witnesses.

The defense claim this is ‘simply untenable’ for both the defendants held behind bars during trial and for the judge, adding that that an additional 360 witnesses “would cause unnecessary delay, waste a lot of time, and would lead to unnecessary presentation of cumulative evidence.”
