Beyonce’s Mother Tina Knowles Reveals A Teacher Once Called The Singer ‘Slow’

Tina Knowles always have something new to share about her daughter, Beyonce. While we thought she’d shared everything about the singer in her interviews over the years, her new book shows there’s more to know about Bey.

In a newly released excerpt, Tina Knowles reveals that a teacher once suggested that Beyoncé, as a child, was “a little slow” and should be held back in school.

It appears Bey wasn’t so bright as a child and had a rough start in the classroom. She seems not so sharp to the extent that her teacher really had the audacity to say, “I think she might be a little slow.”

“They’ve only been in school a few months and you have determined that?” Tina said to the teacher, not buying the claims. “If she needs a tutor, I’ll get her a tutor. I’ll work with her, whatever — but you don’t tell me you’ve already given up on my kid.”

The proud mother refused to let anyone write off her Black daughter before she had a chance to shine, something so many Black moms have had to do when the system labels their kids too soon and too harshly.

The style icon, mama bear, and honorary member of the BeyHive’s inner circle, went straight to the principal and found a retired teacher named Miss Little to tutor Bey privately.

While this revelation is encouraging and inspiring, it has reignited speculation that Beyoncé doesn’t give interviews because she’s “not smart enough.”

Tina also recently revealed her secret cancer battle in a candid interview with Gayle King on CBS Mornings. She said she was recently diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer after doctors discovered two tumors during a mammogram appointment.

The 71-year-old said her daughters supported her through the horrific time by lifting her spirits at hospital appointments, according to the Daily Mail.
