Father Arrested After 3-Year-Old Son Shot Himself In The Head Because He Left His Gun Out

A Tennessee family is mourning after their three-year-old son fatally shot himself in the head with his father’s gun. The father has reportedly turned himself in after being overwhelmed with guilt.

On July 24th, around 9 PM, the police reported a 911 call at an apartment in Nashville regarding a child shot, per Radar Online.

The three-year-old boy, Aydeen Pruitt, was rushed to a children’s hospital, where he was, unfortunately, pronounced dead. Officers spoke with Aydeen’s mother, Dandre Pruitt, who claims she heard a ‘loud pop’ from her bedroom, and the 23-year-old quickly drove away in a Kia Soul.

The authorities then launched a search for the father to question him about the shooting that led to his toddler’s death.

Aydeen’s father told investigators he took out a pistol from his pocket and supposedly put it on his bedroom floor, claiming he wasn’t aware the young child was present in the bedroom.

After the child picked up the gun, and shot himself in the head, Pruitt was arrested and charged with child neglect, evidence tampering and reckless homicide.

The sad part is that this is not the family’s first death. In May 2023, Pruitt’s 4-year-old daughter, Taliyah Frazier, was shot during a drive-by shooting. Taliyah was in the backseat of a car when another car pulled next to the vehicle and started shooting, leaving her shot in the head and then dying the next day.

One boy also sustained a non-critical wound to the head while the other child was injured; Eventually, four people were arrested in connection with her death.
