Back in April, Rod Wave made headlines after he was arrested in Florida for possession of firearm by a convicted felon, as the Florida booking records show that the rapper was in police custody at the time.
Per the booking record, Rod Wave, real name Rodarius Marcell Green, was arrested on the 3rd of April and is facing a charge of possession of ammunition by a convicted felon.
According to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, The 25-year-old rapper was apprehended in Pinellas County after allegedly running from the police. Following news of his arrest, fans looked further into his arrest record and found the plus-sized rapper’s height and weight.
As seen in the record, Rod Wave weight is 350 pounds and he’s only 5 ft 6 inches tall. This quickly went viral on social media, with netizens making jokes about the rapper’s size.

Rod Wave was however released from jail just hours after being arrested. He was subsequently charged with two counts of illegally possessing a firearm or ammunition as a convicted felon. “He was arrested on a charge that was later determined not to be accurate, so he was released,” a spokesperson for St. Petersburg Police Department, Yolanda Fernandez, said.
“This investigation is still open, it’s still ongoing and we are still looking to arrest more people and additional charges could be forthcoming,” he continued.
Prior, authorities said shots were fired among what appeared to be a group of men in a verbal argument. They revealed that the victims were 3 men in their 20s and a 17-year-old woman, and they all suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Attorneys Bradford Cohen and Mark Rankin reacted to the arrest on their Instagram page, writing, “Rod was arrested and detained with absolutely no evidence of wrongdoing.”
“The police claimed he was a felon in possession of ammunition. Not only was he not in possession of ammunition, a basic check of public records would have easily demonstrated to the police that he was not a convicted felon,” Bradford continued.
“The prosecutor and the judge immediately agreed that the evidence did not support the charge and set him free the same day,” he added.
