Lil Wayne Honored With His Own Day & Key To The City By The Mayor Of New Orleans
Lil Wayne is undoubtedly one of the most influential figures in hip-hop and as well one of the all time GOATs. The legendary rapper headlined the Lil Weezyana Fest 2024 on Saturday night at the Smoothie King Center.
The highly anticipated event was fun and a memorable one for attendees as it was a star-studded lineup, including a Hot Boys reunion featuring JUVENILE, BG, and TURK, with appearances by Mannie Fresh and Rob 49.
During the festival, Wayne whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr., was honored with his own day and key to the city by the Mayor of his hometown New Orleans, Mayor LaToya Cantrell, in recognition of his prolific career and contributions to the community.

And that’s not all, New Orleans Entertainment Ambassador Master P, also awarded Lil Wayne a Career Achievement Award for his contributions as an artist, producer, and music executive.
‘Lil Weezyana fest’ was initiated by Tunechi in 2015 during the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. It was created to give back to New Orleans and it has become a signature celebration over the years, showcasing the city’s vibrant culture and spirit.
Back in September, Wayne made headlines after he was snubbed by the NFL for the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show in his hometown and Kendrick Lamar was chosen instead.
The rapper later admitted that he was hurt about it and also explained why it took him a minute to speak out it, while thanking friends and colleagues who’ve expressed support.
“That hurt. It hurt a lot. You know what I’m talking about. It hurt a whole lot,” he said at the time. “I blame myself for not being mentally prepared for a letdown And for automatically mentally putting myself in that position like somebody told me that was my position. So I blame myself for that.”
