Taraji P. Henson made a bit of a mess during her presentation as the host of the 2024 BET Awards. She went from mispronunciation to misidentification while giving flowers to stars in the audience on Sunday.

The prolific actress mispronounced Halle Bailey’s name and as well confused food critic and mixed martial artist Keith Lee with YouTuber Jordan Howlett.

“Meth is married — are you?” she asked YouTube star, Jordan Howlett, thinking he was Keith Lee. “Mr. Keith Lee, I know what you’re thinking right now, this is about a 10.9 outta 10?” she said, flirting with the man with Lee’s catchphrase.

Howlett then corrected her by pointing toward Lee and his wife, Ronni, who were sitting close to him in the crowd.

“I got caught up in my own inner monologue, I’m so sorry,” Taraji told Lee before repeating her “10.9” line to the food critic who was sitting next to his wife. The “Acrimony” actress then called Lee “fine, too” before walking away.

The 53-year-old was met with criticism for her mistakes, and just in, Keith Lee has now reacted to the whole situation. He posted a video on TikTok of him throwing the flower Taraji gave him on the ground.

“Our name will be known in every room its supposed to be, when its supposed to be how it supposed, with no confusion # God Is Amazing #thankful,” the food critic wrote in the caption.

As you’d expect, the drama took a turn as fans are now calling him out for overreacting to the mistake. “Taraji is an a-list celebrity who thought the other guy was you… relax. Ain’t nobody come to see you Otis,” someone commented.

“Sir you do food reviews.. stop being so dramatic,” another person wrote. “Keith don’t get corny about a honest mistake,” someone else added. The clip has since been deleted, but not before people screen recorded it.

Following the backlash, he then made another video to explain why he threw the flower on the ground. “I dropped it on the floor because I wholeheartedly believe that wasn’t my rose,” he said. “That wasn’t my moment. It was given to me but not mine.”
