Karmelo Anthony’s life has taken a different turn following his arrest for allegedly killing a fellow teen, Austin Metcalf, at a track meet a few weeks ago.

Initially, the 17-year-old was sitting in the slammer due to his bail being $1 million, but he was released when a judge reduced it down to $250k.

Unfortunately, despite being home, he has now reportedly had to evacuate his home due to threats and public harassment.

According to Fox4News, Next Generation Action Netwotk, a Dallas advocacy group that has been helping Anthony through this incident, had to facilitate the move of Anthony’s entire family due to their house being the target of harassment.

NGAN is a civil and human rights organization in North Texas. Karmelo’s family chose the group to stand with them through this process.

According to the group, Anthony’s family home has attracted protests from a group called “Protect White Americans” as well as “disturbing mailings” including Metcalf’s obituary.

“The situation reached such a dangerous level that the Anthony family was forced to evacuate Karmelo Anthony from his home over the weekend to an undisclosed location to ensure his immediate safety, approved by courts,” Next Generation Action Network said in a statement.

“It is both heartbreaking and infuriating to see the depths of hate and bigotry still alive and well in our society. No family should have to live under siege simply because they are demanding their constitutional rights.”

The statement continues, “We will not be silent, and we will not back down. We are committed to doing whatever is necessary to protect this family and to ensure that justice is pursued without intimidation or fear.”
