On December 8, 2019, Juice WRLD was aboard a private Gulfstream jet flying from Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles to Midway International Airport in Chicago.
However, police were waiting for the plane to arrive after they were informed by federal agents, while the flight was en route, that they suspected there were firearms and drugs on the aircraft.

The officers later revealed that they found 70 lb (32 kg) of marijuana on the plane and said several members of Juice’s crew aboard the flight told them that he had taken “several unknown pills”.
They added that he allegedly swallowed a lot of Percocet pills to hide them while police were on board the plane searching the luggage.
The ‘Lucid Dreams’ crooner then began convulsing and seizing, after he was given two doses of the emergency medication naloxone as an opioid overdose was suspected.
According to the Chicago Police Department, WRLD suffered a medical emergency at around 2:00 local time (8:00 GMT) and he was transported to the nearby Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead.
Initially, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office did not determine the cause of Higgins’ death. On January 22, 2020, they eventually revealed that the Chicago native died from toxic levels of oxycodone and codeine.
