J. Cole Explains Why He Pulled The Plug During The Drake & Kendrick Lamar Beef On New Song ‘Port Antonio’

J. Cole became a subject of mockery on social media after he backed out of the Drake and Kendrick Lamar beef earlier this year. The North Carolina spotter initially dropped a diss track ‘7 Minutes Drill’ aimed at his friend KDot.

Eventually, he apologized to Lamar and removed the song from all streaming platforms. This move had Hip Hop fans furious and made them strip him off his position as one of the top 3 GOATs of his time.

Well, Jermaine has dropped a new song titled ‘Port Antonio’ in anticipation of his upcoming album ‘The Fall Off’. On the track, he made sure to address all the questions and criticisms he’s faced since backing out of the beef that saw Drake and Kendrick go toe to toe.

Cole dropped the song on Wednesday night and he did addressed his decision to step back from the beef with longtime friend Drizzy and collaborator Kendrick.

J. Cole Explains Why He Pulled The Plug During The Drake & Kendrick Lamar Beef On New Song ‘Port Antonio’

“I pulled the plug because I seen where that was ’bout to go / They wanted blood, they wanted clicks to make they pockets grow / They see this fire in my pen and think I’m dodgin’ smoke / I wouldn’t have lost a battle, dawg, I woulda lost a bro / I woulda gained a foe,” he explains on the five-minute track.

The Dreamville honcho then references the scathing claims made by both Drake and Kendrick on their respective diss songs: “Jermaine is no king if that means I gotta dig up dirt and pay the whole team / Of algorithm bot n-ggas just to sway the whole thing / On social media, competing for your favorable memes to be considered best.”

He continues, “I understand the thirst of being first that made ’em both swing / Protecting legacies, so lines got crossed, perhaps regrettably / My friends went to war, I walked away with all they blood on me.”

The 39-year-old then addresses claims he switched sides on Drake after he apologized to Kendrick: “They say I’m pickin’ sides, aye, don’t you lie on me, my n-gga / To start another war / Aye, Drake, you’ll always be my n-gga / I ain’t ashamed to say you did a lot for me, my n-gga / Fuck all the narratives / Tapping back into your magic pen is what’s imperative.”
