The Boys Star Antony Starr Accused Of Liking Racist Comments On Instagram
Antony Starr is currently making controversial headlines with claims that the actor likes some racist comments on Instagram. Starr plays one of the most loathsome characters on television, Homelander on the hit series The Boys.
There are accusations that Antony is just as horrible in real life. He’s facing heavy criticism after liking a post, which made racist remarks towards a Black woman.
Couple days ago, the actor shared a post on Instagram about a recent meet-and-greet. In one of the photos on the post, a group of people can be seen cosplaying as A-Train, Starlight, Black Noir, and Queen Maeve.
A commenter then singled out the woman dressed as Starlight, simply writing “Starlight” and a series of skull emojis, seemingly mocking the woman for cosplaying as Starlight.
Surprisingly, a Twitter post shows that Antony “liked” the comment. His action sparked outrage among fans and a user said it’s hurtful as it’s very common for Black cosplayers to face similar mocking remarks. The user also claimed that Starr liked even more openly racist comments.
Although the user didn’t share receipts of these claims, Black Twitter wasted no time in rallying together, to put Anthony on Blast – calling him out for alleged racism.
It’s however noteworthy that the actor “liked” dozens of comments on that post and may have simply been liking and replying to all of the earliest comments, in a bid to engage with fans. He even liked one that called the Starlight cosplayer’s glowing hands “genius”.
“Bro didn’t break character even after filming is done,” someone commented. “Black fragility on full display hahahahaha. Anything to be a victim. NO ONE CARES ANYMORE YOU BURNED EVERYONE OUT RETARDS,” another user argued.
