Otters Attack A Jogger At A Park In Malaysia

An unidentified woman was left shocked and bloodied following being attached by a gang of eight otters, according to reports reaching us.

This bizarre incident occurred at Tanjung Aru Recreation Park and is not the first time a group of otters have attacked someone in Southeast Asia.

It’s gathered that the unidentified woman was jogging through the park when she was attacked by a group of eight otters. A footage from the incident that surfaced shows the water weasel octet fleeing the scene after the attack. She was transported to a hospital, while a wildlife team was dispatched to the park to keep tabs on the otters.

Wild life experts at Sabah Wildlife Department claim the otters were more than likely at the park looking for food. The experts added that the attack was more than likely caused by a change in behavior due to park goers feeding the otters.

The victim is pictured sitting on the curb in tears with blood visible on her arms and head and several gouges in her legs. She however survived the attack. The experts have urged against interacting with wildlife and recommended repairing a fence at the park to stop entry for the otters.

According to Daily Express Malaysia, the Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) yesterday ordered the immediate closure of the Perdana Park in Tanjung Aru after three people were injured by a group of otters there.

“This closure is implemented to ensure the safety of visitors and to allow DBKK, in collaboration with relevant agencies, to conduct a further investigation,” DBKK said in a statement.

“Therefore, the public is advised to comply with this closure order to ensure collective safety.”
