Lee Daniels Says Empire Was The ‘Absolute Worst’ Experience: “Horrible!”

Lee Daniels Says Empire Was The ‘Absolute Worst’ Experience But It Put His Kids Through College
Lee Daniels recently opened up about his experience being a co-creator of the hit television series, “Empire,” and according to the 64-year-old, his experience was horrible!
Daniels who’s also the director of new Netflix horror film ‘The Deliverance’, says he enjoys working for himself but when he signed on for “Empire,” he only did it to see what it would be like working for another company.
The said television series ran for six seasons of Fox, amassing rave reviews and bonanza ratings. ‘Empire was once named ‘the most valuable show on broadcast TV,’ and it propelled Daniels into a new stratosphere of Hollywood clout and creative opportunity.

Surprisingly, Daniels says it was the money ‘in itself’ that made the experience worth it. “I don’t like staying in the same lane just as a creative. When I got into television, I really just wanted to be able to answer to suits. I wanted to know what that experience was like,” Lee began.
He continued, “All of my friends, they get notes and sh**. And I’m like, ‘What is that like?!’ You know what I mean? And what was the experience like? “Horrible. Absolutely the worst experience.”
“Horrible! But guess what? F****** that money, money, money! I was able to put my kids through college and sh**. So that in itself was worth it,” he added.
The digital creator also highlighted that every film of his has been independent. “You know, my first movie was developed with drug money. ‘Monster’s Ball,’ we won the first Black woman an Oscar,” he explained.
“Every one of my films has been independently financed where I’m able to…do my thing and nobody is in my head,” Daniels added.
