Brooklyn Football Coach Allegedly Smashed A 14-Year-Old Player’s Head Into A Wall, Cracking His Skull

A Brooklyn football coach has been sued by a 14-year-old and his mother after the man allegedly smashed the boy’s head into a wall out of anger, resulting in the boy’s skull being cracked.

The teen, Shayson Willock and his mother Deslyn spoke exclusively with New York Post about the bizarre incident that left the boy with several stitches in his head.

According to the boy, the incident happened last September when he fell asleep while the team was reviewing film. He claims he was overcoming Covid, and was having trouble staying awake. His coach, Nicholas Nugent of James Madison High School, was so upset with Shayson that he allegedly pulled him into a stairwell and roughed him.

Shayson says then Coach Nugent smashed his head repeatedly into the wall and a metal pole, causing his head to gush out blood. Then, he lost consciousness and passed out.

Coach Nugent then called Deslyn to inform her of the injury, but Deslyn claims he initially lied about how it happened. He said Shayson fell, but she heard her son in the background saying the coach was lying. “He hurt me! He hurt me,” she heard her son yelling. He had to receive six staples in his head.

Nugent was arrested and charged with multiple counts of felony assault, endangering the welfare of a child, harassment and menacing. Deslyn claims despite him being arrested, She feels as though the situation has been swept under the rug.

“I don’t know if I can trust the teachers,” said Willock, who filed a $2.5 million lawsuit against Nugent, the city and the Department of Education. “I don’t know if I can trust the coaches. I don’t even know if I can trust the justice system. I don’t know who to trust at this point, because I felt like everyone failed me. Everyone failed my son.”

Nugent is seemingly unfazed by the lawsuit. “I’m shocked by the phone call to find out it’s a news thing, but hey, it is what it is,” he said. “ It’s all good. That’s why we’re going to trial, because I’m all about defending my freedom. I’m all about defending my rights.”
