First Responders Slammed For Not Being Able To Remove 850-Pound Lady From The Home In A Timely Manner

An 850lb woman’s family has blasted a funeral home and first responders for not being able to accommodate her in a timely manner following her death.

Cassandra Ortiz, passed away a week ago from morbid obesity and the deceased’s mother, Carolyn Alverio, says it was hard to accept the fact that she died.

According to Fox6 Milwaukee news, Carolyn says what’s even harder is having to watch her daughter’s body sit in the house because first responders couldn’t get her out.  The grieving mother says the process took 12 hours because no one had the capacity to handle the case due to her daughter’s weight.

“To walk in that room and just keep seeing her there, and it’s like, oh my god when are they going to get my baby out of here. They need to get her out of here.” It took about 20 to 30 people,” Carolyn said.

Unfortunately, after her deceased daughter was placed in a van, her body was left there for several hours because the fire department who was transporting her was called to another emergency.

Carolyn wants the state of Wisconsin to have a protocol for situations like her daughter’s, so no family has to deal with a challenge during an already difficult time.

She claims this incident ruined the family’s chance at having an open casket funeral. Folks online have since been reacting to the news.

“When it takes that many people, I think your child was the problem, ma’am,” someone commented. “I understand you lost your child, but you also allowed her to become so big 30 people couldn’t figure out how to move her.”
