An Illinois woman is currently going viral on social media. The 68-year-old reportedly stole $1.5M worth of chicken wings back in 2020 and has finally learned her fate.

The woman whose name is Vera Liddel, was employed by the Illinois school district and was caught taking advantage of students being home-schooled during the pandemic.

Since kids were being schooled at home, the school was granted permission to send meal kits to their residences. Well, Ms. Liddel placed orders for the meal kits with the school’s food provider, but was adding chicken wings as extra items.

Vera’s scheme was discovered when the district saw the invoices included bone-in chicken, something they don’t serve students. She ordered over 11,000 cases of wings for a total of $1.5 million. She was sentenced to 9 years in prison.

According to prosecutors, the audit revealed that the district’s food service department had exceeded its annual budget by $300,000 with half the school year left, per Fox News.

The woman had worked for Harvey School District 152 for more than a decade.
