For a while now, there are rumors swirling around that the City Girls have separated. Just in, Yung Miami has now confirmed that her and JT are no longer working together as a duo.

During a recent interview with Complex, Caresha explained that the two were in “different spaces” after the release of their third and latest album, ‘RAW’.

It’s safe to say that the album flopped as it only reached as high as 117 on the US Billboard 200 in October 2023. According to Yung Miami, the two are still on good terms although they are now pursuing their respective solo careers.

“I think when the City Girls album just dropped and it didn’t do too well and we was just like trying to do our press run.. you know the whole roll out of the album was just so bad because we were just in two different spaces,” she said.

The rapper also mentioned that they are repping different cities which makes it easier for them to go different paths without any animosity. “We older now and it was just like she was doing her own thing and she on the West Coast. I’m in Miami, I’m doing my own thing.”

She continued, “And I felt like naturally, when she’s doing it just work for her. When I’m doing my own thing, it work for me. But when we get together as a group, it just wasn’t connecting. Like it just wasn’t working no more.”

“So I think we both was at a point where it was just like, we probably should just do our own sh*t. That was the point for me,” Caresha added.

Back in 2017, the City Girls signed with Quality Control Music, an imprint of Motown and Capitol Records to release their debut mixtape, Period (2018) the following year. Couple months later, they broke into limelight following their guest performances on Drake’s 2018 hit single, “In My Feelings”, which peaked atop the Billboard Hot 100.

The duo dropped their debut studio album ‘Girl Code’ that same year and it saw positive critical reception and was supported by the singles “Twerk” (featuring Cardi B) and “Act Up”.

In 2020, they released their second album ‘City on Lock’, which was met with continued praise and moderate commercial response. Their third and what seems like their final project as a duo, ‘RAW’, flopped and it was the beginning of the end of the group.
