Cardi B Slams Candace Owens For Saying Sonya Massey Shooting Wasn’t Racially Motivated

The case of an Illinois woman, Sonya Massesy, who was shot in the face by a deputy after she called the police to report a possible prowler, remains a huge issue in the social space.

Controversial conservative commentator, Candace Owens, recently shared her thoughts on the issue and it’s quite insensitive.

According to Candace, Sonya Massey shooting wasn’t racially motivated. “There are mistakes that happen. The idea that you’re now going to use this situation to try to make Black Americans believe that this happened simply because she was Black,” she said in a new video.

“It’s pointedly ridiculous,” she continued. “So I’m saying to Black Americans today, do not take this bait.” The 35-year-old added that unarmed White Americans are more likely to be shot and killed by police officers than Black Americans.

Cardi B caught up with Candace’s take and wasted no time in calling her out. The Grammy Award winning rapper took to an X Spaces chat on Wednesday (July 24), where reacted to Owens’ comments.

“Today she said something so disturbing about the Sonya Massey case. For you to sit here and say that ‘Oh not everything is racial. I know that this is sad, but this is not something racial. There’s more white people that get killed by the cops,’ girl shut up,” Cardi said.

“You don’t feel one little bit of empathy, a little bit of sympathy of how this woman died? There was no argument, there was no conflict, there was no raised voice, and she got shot,” she continued.

According to the Bronx native, Deputy Sean Garyson could still be racist even if never used a racial slur. “He knew in the back of his head because she was a Black woman that he was going to get away with it,” she said.

“Not only did he think that, but the department thought that because they didn’t tell her son or her father that a cop shot her. It had everything to do with the fact it was because she was Black. So nobody has to say a racial slur for you to know that it was racially motivated,” she added.
